Approaching Hoytville

Approaching Hoytville

On This Date: Photo taken 3/7/2012.

Hoytville’s a collection of houses–a hamlet, if you would–a mile south of my town, Mulliken. I discussed its history on 3/7/2013, if you’re interested.

This farmyard’s a bit over a mile from our house, and is visible (after a fashion) from our yard. The house is quite striking, especially in the late-afternoon sun. There are a couple other photographs I’d like to take of it, both of which would take some luck and a long lens. Since I don’t routinely wander around with my long lens, they’d necessarily be planned photographs. Someday, perhaps.

This is one of a half-dozen similar photographs I took that morning. The framing changed a bit as I moved closer to the house, but they all have the same look and feel.

And please note that the photo’s two rightmost barns are part of another farm, a few hundred yards down the road. Perspective can mislead.

Number of pix taken on various March 7ths: 130
Year of oldest photo: 2007
