1980 Baseball Abstract by Bill James: a short review

Value Added Method, Runs Created, Range Factor. This is the first edition with explicit player comments, and although the players are ranked according to VAM, the comments themselves are pure Bill James. He also found room for an extensive discussion of the value of a stolen base, and about ways to discuss clutch hitting.

There’s still some refining to do, but this is the first edition that feels like the commercial versions. Great fun.
