Lugnuts Notes: Series at Home against the Clinton LumberKings

April 30 thru May 3

  • Lugnuts 2 games, Lumber Kings 2 games
  • One rainout (Tuesday) rescheduled and played as a double header (Thursday).
  • Lugnuts are 14-13 (.519)
  • Third place, 2 games behind the Battle Cats. The division’s spread has reached 4.5 games, largely because Michigan beat up on Fort Wayne during this series.

Our team’s winning about half its games because that’s the way it plays; they have excellent days, then have terrible days. No single player’s playing particularly badly, except for the relief staff, but nearly everyone’s managed to make serious errors of one sort or another.

There’s a good side to this team, too: They fight back when they get behind. Don’t leave early, because the last inning’s often real exciting.

Let’s talk about the position players.

Finally some good weather. The garden’s doing nicely, thank you; tulips and daffodils. Glorious!

One Response to Lugnuts Notes: Series at Home against the Clinton LumberKings

I want to remind everyone that I was writing previews on Lansing’s opposition, but that those won’t be showing up here in the seventeen-year-ago blog until the All-Star break because I only saved the last version for each team. I’ll also be occasionally mentioning the opposing teams from time to time in these notes. Please be patient. Thanks.

The player notes mentioned above were originally part of this page, but I moved them to a separate page late in the season. The effect was to turn one of the meatiest pages on the website into this short note. I’ll talk about the player comments more in the notes to that page, which I hope will be posted later today.

In the event you’ve just stumbled onto this entry, here’s an explanation of what I’m up to.
