Ground Rules

Two events from last night’s Fort Wayne/Battle Creek game involved the ground rules at C.O. Brown Stadium.  Both generated some controversy.

The Weather Station

But it is by no means “wireless,” despite the name.  The “Thermo-Hygro Sensor“–I think that means thermometer/barometer–does indeed house a radio transmitter which transmits data to the Weather Station proper, but the Wind Sensor (ain’t it just too cute?) and Rain Sensor are both tethered to the T-H Sensor by cables–32 foot cables, to be exact.

Jowo’s Loony Plate

My brother’s reaction to this plate–”You always said you don’t like the funny plates”–deserves some comment.

Opening Day

Battle Creek’s Chase Wright pitched well, and looks impressive, but threw too many pitches and was visibly tired by the fifth.  Regardless, Sean Marshall, a lanky guy with some apparent potential, pitched a better game.  The most interesting thing seen was Lansing’s Clay Rapada, who is a radical sidewinder; don’t remember seeing a southpaw throw like that before.  Lansing’s Kyle Boyer had a fine day at the plate.

(in)Frequent Meetings

Worth a look: Jeanene Sessum , who’s still figuring out what she’s about, finds herself in a client’s conference room, remembers when meetings dominated of her days, compares the experiences, then talks about perspectives. And cookies. Wonderful stuff.

Gracenotes: CDDB

Question:  Is “good enough” really good enough?  The answer probably depends on what you were hoping for.

The TechNomad

Steven K. Roberts is a person I might have been. We even look kind of alike. He grew up a nomad; I grew up a bureaucrat….

Tom & Becky, without Suzanne

Tom called home.  “Suzanne, I’m running late; stopped to have dinner with Becky and we’re waiting for the bill.”  Suzanne apparently didn’t take this well.  Becky borrowed the phone, and started to explain:  “Hi, Suzanne….”  Suzanne hung up on her.
